And they are up and running! “Long Live Fun”, the tagline for American Eagles new concept store for kids, 77 Kids, is now Revealed.
The aggressive promotions continue in partnership with the Jonas Brothers. Talk about a major headline! Obviously American Eagle means some serious business with their new concept for kids ages 2-12. What are they up to next? Mark your calendars for a 77 Kids exclusive Jonas Brothers concert to be aired, live over the internet on November 16.
Seven things we still like about 77 Kids after having reviewed their clothing line and website:
- Their size range goes up to Size 12 (instead of stopping at Size 10 like some other well-known brands). And, we love the fun Size Wizard on the site.
- Similar to Gaps 4-in-1 Cart, you can shop 77 Kids, Aerie, and American Eagle via a Single Cart — so promotions across the sites apply. We tried the 20% discount code advertised on American Eagle, and worked for 77 Kids Items in the cart. Yeah!
- They are offering e-Gift Cards — always a great idea. And, you even get a few options to design your own card.
- 77 days ago they publicly committed to a timeline — and they made it (actually beat it!) Another indication they are serious about this business.
- The website is inviting for both parents and kids. The on-line experience is a unique marketing technique — it will be interesting to see if they stick with it. Instead of static photography, 77 Kids is the first we’ve seen to use live-motion videography throughout the site. You can do some straight, serious shopping, or you can have fun with the video splashes.
- They are offering Free Shipping and Free Returns through December 29, 2008. This benefit will also apply to your American Eagle and Aerie orders if you checkout with a 77 Kids Item in your Cart.
- The designs and prices look to be in line at attractive price points — A cross between Abercrombie and Gap designs with a bit of Crazy8 pricing. So far the site has limited offerings, but that will increase over time.
All this contributes to our continued enthusiastic outlook for the 77 Kids brand — even in today’s competitive children’s apparel market.

I’ve purchased many things from 77 Kids for both my son and my daughter and I have to say I absolutely LOVE the clothing. Their denim is especially phenomenal, and worth the semi-expensive price-point. They do run fantastic sales, which is when my purchases are mostly made. Two thumbs up, for sure!!!
Thank you for the comments Jen. We think 77Kids is a great option for kids too – especially that tween age group, where it can be difficult to find quality and stylish apparel.
