Whether you’re stocking up for next summer or filling out this years wardrobe for your child, it’s worth taking a peek while the selection is still good. Gymboree’s Red Balloon Sale (i.e. Summer Clearance) begins tomorrow, or rather tonite at 12:01 a.m. Watch for more lines discounted to 60% off as well as some special price promotions, such as $3.99, $4.99, and $5.99. Shop early for the best selection. Stick to the 60% off sales for the best deal and best optimization of the Gymbucks you’ll earn while shopping!
Update June 16: Gymboree Red Balloon Sale sections are organized by $0.99 (e.g. socks), $4.99 and under (mostly accessories, little clothing ), and $7.99 and under (lots of tops and shorts).
Between now and the end of June is the best time to buy at the major retailers if you want the best selection. If you’re going for the best prices and willing to take a risk on selection — wait until July.

In the sale news today: Hanna Andersson’s “Big Twice A Year” sale has started. We noticed some good deals, but expect further markdowns.
Another noticeable change… J. Crew has extended free shipping on all crewcuts orders (for a limited time). It’s a good time to shop the Summer Sale: Free Shipping + returns/exchanges allowed. Once the Final Sale starts (no refunds or exchanges), we can probably expect Free Shipping to be gone.
Garnet Hill has started to take further markdowns in their Kids Summer Sale section. And, be sure to check out Gymboree’s Fill A Bag sale (save 30% on your total order, and earn Gymbucks too. — now is a great time to buy on-sale summer inventory)

We’re expecting some creativity over the next two months in how stores Clearance out their Summer inventory. A current example is Gymboree’s “Fill a Bag” sale — save 30% on a full bag of merchandise in stores, or on a full cart on-line – Includes new lines. This is a ‘Limited Time Only’ sale, which likely means indefinite (or until the next major markdown). A couple of TIPS to keep in mind:
- If an item is currently 50% off, an additional 30% off yields a total savings of 65%. There is a much higher size and style collection NOW, then there will be when the same item finally gets permanently marked down to 65%.
* - AND… you will earn Gymbucks with your purchase — yielding you yet another12.5% savings on the same purchase, for a total savings of 70%.

It’s definitely time to buy! Focus on the 50% sales (and higher) for the very best deals.
