Diane von Furstenberg, known for her liberating wrap dresses in the late seventies, is joining forces with GAP to create a line for the younger crowd. She follows the recent sucess of Stella McCartney who had a taste of the children’s fashion world designing for GAP last fall.
The new DVF collection will debut in March 2012 and will include fashions that will incorporate her signature bold prints and bright colrs for girls 2 through 12. Gap’s president, Art Peck said he’s excited to offer a collection which, “applies her signature approach to print, optimistic colour and femininity.” The new garments desig
ned by the fashion icon will be sold at GAP’s affordable price points rather than high end price points.
Currently, the DVF fashion brand offers women’s clothing, a full range of accessories including shoes, handbags and fine jewelry and a successfull home collection. In addition, Diane is currently launching a new fragrance world wide. Although von Furstenberg has not designed for children through her lucrative career, it will be interesting to see what this fashion icon, mother and grandmother with 40 years of fashion experience will create.
We are excited to see what she brings to the table. What about you?
