Hi, this is Suzanne from LoobaLee.com. This week I was inspired to remind everyone about something we are starting to take for granted here on LoobaLee, a custom marketplace for buying and selling kids clothes. I was reading some articles in on-line forums about frustrations with Non-Paying Buyers (otherwise known as NPB’s), and this time it wasn’t all about eBay, … it was about Bonanzle, too. Here’s an example on the Purse Forum.

How are we different? On LoobaLee, an order is not created until the Buyer pays. There is no way for someone to “commit to buy” and pay later. A buyer checks out just like on a retail site, but if they change their mind and abandon checkout, their selected items will remain in their cart exclusively “on hold” for up to 3 hours. If they do complete their purchase, an order is created and the seller is notified. Sellers always know that when they receive an order, that payment has been completed and it is safe to package up and ship their item(s).

I think this is extremely well thought out and reflects the shopping behavior. As a buyer I do need some extra thinking time. I also load my shopping cart with the items I like while browsing the stores, then I go back and do the careful editing. Sometimes it’s a long process, which takes time. We don’t need the “purchase it now” pressure, just as sellers need to know they received their payment. and they can proceed to fulfill the order.
Thanks for the comment about our “cart hold” glad you like it! This feature facilitates eliminating the NPB problem. Our cart hold feature is unique. On other “buy now” marketplaces, you must (literally) “buy now” or not. So, while thinking about it, someone else could sneak in and buy it right in front of you. On LoobaLee, you can add items to your cart and hold them exclusively for up to 3 hours (just as if you were physically shopping in a store and asked a clerk to hold your items temporarily, while you think about making the purchase). We allow a 30 minute cart hold for visitors to the site and a 3 hour cart hold for members. I personally love this feature, as I tend to put a lot of thought kids clothing purchases.
Hi Suzanne,
I’m really impressed with your site! Hope things are going well. It’s Thurs. May 27th at 11:47 a.m. If you want to see how long it takes to get this message.
Miss you!
Mike
Hey, thank Mike! Hope things are going great at Lotus Ranch too — the photos I’ve seen look great. Maybe someday we’ll have to come down to visit and put on a kids fashion show — probably something you haven’t done yet at the new venue!
