I can’t believe it’s June! June marks the month before the retail seasons start to change. We’re unlikely to see anymore new Summer lines in children’s clothing at this point, as retailers fill their supply lines with Fall merchandise in order to have it on their floors and websites in July.
So, June also marks the beginning of the big summer sales and markdowns. Timing of the markdowns for each retailer may depend on how much spring and summer inventory they still have in stock. Typically, we’ll see at least 30% and 40% off everything by the end of this month, if not 50% and 60%.
Your local boutiques may also start some slow markdowns, such as 20 – 30% off selected merchandise. However, expect the boutique markdowns to lag the major retailers by at least a month.
If you need current season summer clothing for your kids, the best time to find good deals is after Memorial Day, when you still have plenty of summer weather left ahead.

- For those of you with girls, you probably know about the upcoming American Girl Kit movie. There is an on-line special for an American Girl Kit T-Shirt with matching doll t-shirt for $20 — pretty good deal, considering AG’s normal pricing.

- Spring Sales – Save 30-50%. Finally! It appears some further markdowns have been taken, as well as new items added to the sale.

- The extra 20% off all markdowns enjoyed over Memorial Day is gone, but the sales continue. There are a lot of items for $4.99 and under or $6.99 and under.
- Most summer merchandise is on sale at 40-50% off, aside from some newly introduced seasonal ‘tween’ lines.

- Garnet Hill
- Unless you watch the site daily, perhaps we were the first to notify you of the 7 pages of Kids Sale items under $10 last Thursday. I didn’t receive an official Email on the sale until Tuesday (after Memorial Day).
- There are still 4 pages of $10 and under items for kids in the Sale section of the website today.
- Coupon sites, such as Retail Me Not, have codes for $10 off $50, $20 off $100, and $50 off $250. Lately, I haven’t been able to get these codes to work, but still worth watching the site and giving them a try. If you have a code that works, leave a comment and let us know!
- There is no Sales of the Day for kids today. This is unusual, but probably due to the $10 and under sale.

- Peel-A-Prize starts in stores on Wednesday, June 4th and continues through the 15th. Get 20 – 50% off coupons in stores. Also available in American Baby Magazine – June issue.

- The Women’s & Children’s Sale has ended, but Summer Savings continues. Most items are still marked down in the sale section of the website.
