If your child has a pair of jeans they aren’t ready to part with but perhaps they have holes in the knees or stains, we’ve got a fun upcycle idea that might be just the right fit. Turn the old denim into a cool dip dyed pair of shorts. First, cut the jeans or capris down to shorts length and let the fun begin!
To achieve the look in the picture below, first bleach the denim by soaking the shorts for a few hours and air dry. Next, add fabric die in the color of your choice to small squeeze bottles and apply to the shorts in the pattern of your choice. The squeeze bottle allows you to control where color goes but you can use any method you like.
We made these red, white and blue shorts for 4th of July but the possibilities are endless!
