Opening Day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a major annual event. I love it — even more so than attending the Pre-Sale and Pre-Select.
I compiled my favorite tips (57 of them!) into a handy PDF guide that you can purchase for just $7.57 (literally, less than the cost of your lunch!). The guide will help you maneuver the sale to get everything you want FIRST (before its gone!), and you’ll have a blast doing it. The Baby and Kids departments can be a zoo, but you’ll be armed with some strategies to outwit the other shoppers! — how much fun is that?!
Here are some basic facts about the sale that you’ll also need to know:

- The sale begins the 3rd Friday in July and continues through 3 weekends.
- If you haven’t shopped this event before, the entire kids’ departments, literally, will be stocked with new merchandise for Fall – and all on sale
- After the sale, prices on remaining inventory go back up (seriously!).
- Preview the On-line catalog – it contains 84 more pages than the hard-copy. You can even bookmark pages, circle items and make notes in your personalized on-line version (fun! And, a new feature this year).
- Nordstrom negotiates deals with many of the brands it regularly carries to offer pre-season merchandise at a discount, usually 30-35% off, at the event. And, if you’re a fan of Nordstrom brands, new lines will be available across all departments, and all on sale.
- If you visit the store before day 1 of the sale, you won’t see a hint of the event to begin on Friday. Over night, the entire store and almost all inventory turns over from current Summer selections to all new Fall & Winter inventory — discounted at ~30%.
- As the Anniversary Sale inventory goes, summer sale inventory will creep back in to keep the floors and shelves full.
- You will earn double points on all Anniversary Sale purchases the first 3 days of the sale.
- An annual catalog drop is planned about 10 days before the sale begins. The catalog is also available on-line, and this year (for the first time) it is an extended version — 84 pages longer than the hard copy version.
- You cannot pre-order clothing or shoes on-line — only some fragrances and cosmetics.
- Pre-Select and Pre-Fit opportunities are available to purchase sale items in advance. You won’t be able to take them from the store or be billed, until opening day of the sale.
- Pre-Select and Pre-Fit appointments are given to those who have the best standing with Nordstrom first, i.e. Level 4, then 3, then 2, then 1. It doesn’t mean you can’t get an appointment if you have no standing, check out my tips to find out how.
- Coffee from the Nordstrom Cafe is 25 cents opening day of the sale, all day.
- Most stores close early the night before the sale and have extended hours the first weekend of the sale, July 16 – 18. Most stores will open their doors at 8:00 a.m. on opening day.
- Moms wait in line to get in and the Kids departments get slammed first thing, unlike any other department in the store. So it pays to be there early.
In my guide you’ll learn how to navigate the sale to get everything you want — outwitting the other shoppers. Some of the best stuff is only available in limited quantities.
I’ve stuffed 57 of my favorite, seasoned sale tips and strategies into this easy-to-read PDF Guide – available for immediate download after purchase.
All my tips pertain to shopping the Kids Clothing & Footwear Departments (Baby/Toddler, Little/Big Kid, and Kids Shoes), although many will help you shop more successfully all departments throughout the store. Reduce stress; Learn how to get the help you need from a Sales Associate; Get the best stuff FIRST; Optimize your time; Don’t waste time standing in Lines; Secrets behind the Pre-Select and Pre-Fit; Where to find more inventory, and more!
I’ll be there on July 16th when the doors Open — either 7:00 or 8:00 a.m., depending on your store! Will you be there too?

OMG! The revelations! I had NO idea! Suzanne, you are a gate keeper of the Supreme Shopping Truth:)
